Workshops
At C.U.P we strive to understand the whole child. Let us explain what that means.
When a child exhibits negative behaviors, do you assume:
1. They are just Bad,
2. Out-of-control and/or In need of some Serious Discipline.
or 3. All of the above.
Understanding
the whole
child means taking into consideration that there may be many other things going on,
such as depression, trauma, anxiety or a myriad of other mental health issues. We will help
you explore other possibilities and gain a greater understanding of your child’s
negative reactions and behaviors.
There are 7 informative workshops to help families uncover underlying child
developmental issues
that will help you navigate the complex world of
how to raise healthy and whole children in these very complicated times.
These 7 primary workshops represent the 7 key factors that we believe have the greatest influence on behavior.
Workshop
1
Understanding emotional and physical development at each milestone.
Each stage represents specific changes in your child.
Workshop
2
Temperament:
What role
does it play in behavior and is it possible to change it?
Workshop 3
Adapting to Life Changes:
The impact
of such things as divorce, separation, death, relocation, loss of sibling in
the home, etc. (just to name a few).
How does your child handle change?
Workshop 4
The Parent’s Stuff:
How much does your childhood (you, the parent) impact the way you parent your child/children?
Workshop 5
Consequences for Behavior:
Does the same discipline approach work for all children?
and if not … Why not?
Workshop 6
The Health / Medical Impact:
How
health challenges impact behavior.
Including a review of sensory issues.
Workshop 7
Advocating for your child in school:
Know your child’s learning style, and what he/she needs to excel.
**Additional workshop topics available upon request.
**Workshops
are available for families with very young children ages 0-5 yrs.
Through these workshops attendees
engage in discussions around the
social emotional development of infants and
toddlers, as well as the impact
of sensory issues on a child’s development.
Consultations — CUP
Consultations are customized to the specific needs of each parent and are designed to help you and your family understand the underlying issues that may be the root cause of problem behaviors. Resource information is provided along with guidance in determining the potentially best next steps needed to take to overcome your family’s specific challenges.
You will explore the 7 primary components of behavior that influence how your child behaves (reacts to situations). Taking these components into consideration allows you to see your challenges with your child in a new light. During the consultations, Dr. Donna shares her knowledge of psycho-social-emotional development and will provide resources for services that will help you find the right solutions, customized for you, your child and your family.
The workshop series is available to public, private and charter schools and other community outreach organizations, such as churches and social service entities, upon request. CUP is a non-profit, 501 (C) 3 organization.
Please fill
out the contact information form to request your FREE 30 min. consultation. From that personalized consult, you
will be able to determine if you have enough direction to proceed on your own,
or if you’d like to seek further guidance through one-on-one coaching,
(through
C.U.P. services), or family sessions/individual therapy sessions (through Transcend
Challenges).
